Happy November, my friends! October was a month filled with so many adventures and travels, but it took a lot out of me. I’m so rejuvenated for a new month. November begins my favorite time of year filled with amazing food and making memories with family. So here’s to November!
I’ve absolutely loved this weekend series. It’s so fun for me to share more about this person behind the blog. From sharing my facts and favorites, to giving you an intro to the husband, and some weird things about me that apparently aren’t so uncommon, I’ve loved getting to share with you!
I wanted to share some things about our relationship from the beginning. We “celebrated” the anniversary of four years since we started dating last weekend. I’m at such a weird place of feeling like it has flown by but also that I can’t remember what it was like not being together. I figure most people may not know the details of our relationship so here goes!
Our relationship started as long distance. Steven was stationed in Albuquerque while I was still in my sophomore year at High Point University. We dated for a total of two months and some change before Steven was deployed to Qatar for five months (originally an eight month deployment). The next four months we lived off of Facebook messages and Skyping every four days.
Two months after Steven got back, we were engaged. We had known each other exactly a year, but we had known for months we were going to get married. The following January, I headed off to Florence, Italy to study abroad for four months. By then iMessaging existed and was a huge help in our communication.
Two months after getting back from Italy, we got married! Then we moved out to North Carolina, where we still are!
Fun facts about our relationship:
- Our first “date” was dinner and a movie. Steven picked the movie, Despicable Me, and then slept through the entire thing.
- We both grew up in Virginia, but ended up meeting in New Mexico.
- Steven’s brother would have been named Madison if he was a girl, so when we started dating, his mom was really excited to finally have “her Madison”
- Steven’s middle name is Addison, which we would love to use as a name for a daughter, but having a Madison and an Addison could get awfully confusing.
I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a little more about us! It’s always fun looking back on all of our weirdness 😉
