One of the biggest adjustments for new parents can be the change in your social life. Suddenly, you can’t pick up and go anywhere (at least not before refilling the diaper bag, changing baby’s diaper, and possibly a feeding), which makes spur of the moment hang outs with friends difficult. I’m a huge proponent of including your baby in your pre-baby lifestyle as much as possible, but there are some things that just become more difficult. A few of those things for me are talking on the phone, eating a full meal without having to stand or nurse (because baby is always hungry right after I sit down to eat), or watching TV. With the awards show season coming up in February, I know how difficult it will be to watch any awards show all the way through without interruption. This upcoming season is the perfect reason to get together with friends, so I came up with the idea to host our new parent friends for the awards shows because they’ll be completely gracious to us if we have to stop and start the show a million times, because they have a newborn too.
To host this kind of party, you’ll need a few supplies. I love the idea of giving out little goodie bags to guests for parties, and this party is no different. Except that this particular goodie bag has some of the essentials that you need in the first few months of parenthood, as well as some items you need to survive any outing.
Diapers are an essential need anytime we go anywhere. I promise, the first time you think “I’ll just be in the store really quick, the baby won’t need to be changed” you’re in for a disaster. With babies, less is not more and you always want to err on the side of caution having more than you think you’ll need. It’s a huge mentality switch if you’re like me and you prefer to travel light!
A party always needs food and beverages too, but for this one remember your guests could be nursing moms who need lots of clear liquids and tasty, high protein snacks! But of course, us new moms wouldn’t turn down a piece of chocolate either. You can prep for your get together by getting all of your supplies for food, drinks and your goodie bags at Albertson’s.
My absolute favorite part of this goodie basket is including this adorable baby onesie. This is the perfect way to include your kiddo in the fun for the awards show and ten he will be able to continue to use it outside of the awards show season as an adorable outfit. I made this onesie using Heat Transfer Vinyl and my Silhouette portrait machine.
The rest of the new parent essentials included are some deodorant for both mom and dad (Old Spice and Secret),Bounty® Paper Towels (for the many messes that come with kiddos), and Pampers® Baby Dry Diapers.
